Mayoral candidates gather to help pay off their debts with Harmony Dinner

After months of begging for votes, Toronto mayoral candidates gathered Thursday evening to ask for cash to help pay off their campaign debts.

The fundraiser called the Mayoral Harmony Fundraising Dinner took place at the Metro Convention Centre and involved Rocco Rossi, Sarah Thompson, George Smitherman and mayor Rob Ford.

Tickets for the event started at $250 and included cocktails, 3 course dinner and entertainment, including musical guest Matt Dusk.

However, tickers were oversold and as many as eighty people were asked to forgo dinner and were offered a private wine and cheese evening with mayor Ford at his home.

Former deputy mayor Joe Pantalone held his own fundraiser early this week and did not want to take part in the Harmony Dinner because he considered his amount of debt to be relatively small in comparison.
