Elderly woman struck by vehicle, suffers serious head injuries

TORONTO, Ont. – Police have re-issued a warning about jaywalking after a woman was struck while trying to catch a bus.

The 79-year-old woman was running across Bathurst Street by Castlefield Avenue to catch a bus just before 9 p.m. Tuesday when she was struck by a car and sent flying through the air.

She suffered serious head trauma.

Due to the hill at this particular spot, it is difficult for drivers to spot jaywalkers, especially at night, so pedestrians are urged to cross at lit intersections.
