Public voices concerns during first TTC meeting at Metro Hall

TORONTO, On. – A group of Toronto Transit Commission bus riders packed inside one of Metro Hall’s boardrooms for the first of four public meetings, Monday.

Some riders arrived more than an hour early in the hopes of being the first to voice their concerns surrounding the proposed TTC route changes.

Despite transit officials saying some service cuts on underused routes is intended to shift resources to busier routes, some commuters aren’t buying it.

“They can easily use buses that are sitting in garages that are seldom used. There are certain garages around the city where there are hundreds of buses sitting there,” transit rider Felix Tse told 680News.

Tse takes the 50 Leslie bus, one of 48 routes up for debate.

The four public meetings are being held to provide information on the routes which are proposed for reallocation and alternatives to those routes, and to obtain feedback from customers.

The proposed route changes are being considered for implementation in May 2011.
