Power back on for Orangeville residents

ORANGEVILLE, Ont. – Power has been restored to parts of Orangeville, Friday, after an almost seven-hour blackout.

The outage happened at around 1:30 a.m. due to problems at a hydro transfer station.

It affected more than 7,000 hydro customers in Orangeville.

The blackout also affected residents in surrounding areas like Alliston, Shelburne and Caledon.

Many residents, such as Robert, woke up in the cold and dark.

“I heard the furnace go off, and it just went quiet, the house stopped humming […], I got up and turned on the bathroom light and there were no lights,” he said.

Power was restored just after 7:30 a.m.
