Collingwood hospital closed to visitors, new patients due to gastro outbreak

COLLINGWOOD, Ont. – Part of a Collingwood hospital remains closed to visitors and new patients due to an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness.

The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital closed its medical unit last week after noticing an increasing number of inpatients with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Hospital staff say the unit will reopen once the outbreak has cleared, but they don’t know when that will be.

The closure aims to limit the spread of the illness.

Outpatient services are still open.
