TORONTO, Ont. – The fire marshal’s office said that it can take a couple of weeks to tear down the Heritage building that was destroyed by a six-alarm blaze.
The scene has affected traffic and has shut down businesses and shops in the immediate area.
A souvenir shop owner told 680News that her business, which is located on Yonge Street north of Gould Street, experienced low sales on Monday.
“And that’s just under $20. We are just sitting here waiting for customers, it’s going to be the same thing like last time,” she told 680News.
Many shop owners are experiencing the same ordeal from last spring. A fire broke out at the same building and weakened their businesses.
Some store owners in the area have opted to stay and work, rather than go home.
