TORONTO, Ont. – An early morning fire caused extensive damage to the Harold the Jewellery Buyer store on Bathurst near Glencairn.
Crews were called to the location at around 2:30 a.m. Monday
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
“Business owners and the police are continuing to canvass the area, trying to locate surveillance, speak to any possible witnesses who may be able to assist us in this investigation,” Detective Paul Lentsch told 680News.
An employee at the store told The Toronto Star they believe the fire was not an accident.
Harold the Jewellery Buyer made headlines back in August, after a 71 year old former employee of the store was charged in connection to an alleged plot to kill rival store owner Jack Berkovits of Omni Jewelcrafters, located directly across the street.
Maria Konstan has since been released on bail.
Harold Gerstel, the store’s owner, was not charged in the case.
