TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto’s new subway cars won’t be up and running in January as planned.
Transit officials told The Toronto Star that testing the new cars is taking longer than expected.
The TTC wants to ensure that the cars can safely make the curves in the tunnels.
It will be at least until February before the cars will be running on the Yonge line.
The TTC has spent a billion dollars on the new trains.
The trains wide-open design means the cars can accommodate 10 per cent more riders.
