TORONTO, Ont. – With just two shopping days left until Christmas Day, it’s expected Thursday will be the busiest day of the year, Thursday, for credit and debit card transactions.
Moneris Solutions, the country’s largest credit and debit card purchase processor, said holiday spending is slightly up this year.
However, it said sales in electronic stores are actually down, which indicates consumers may be waiting for Boxing Day sales.
While malls and stores will experience a busy day ahead, the real last-minute panic won’t set in until Christmas Eve, with the busiest shopping hour of the year to occur between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Friday.
