TORONTO, Ont. – The Liquor Control Board of Ontario has announced that they will release the exclusive Samuel Adam’s beer known as “Utopias”.
The beer is rare, expensive and even illegal in 11 states, which can only be “won” like the lottery.
The LCBO has 70 bottles that they will sell through telephone and online lottery, from January 6-13.
Utopias is sold in a 750-millimetre bottle and while a normal 24-pack of domestic beer sells for $30 to $40, this single bottle will sell for $114.95.
The 27 per cent of alcohol by volume makes it illegal in some States.
Utopias flavourful and reminiscent of port or cognac is what makes it unique, according to the company’s website.
“The 2009 release is a blend of batches, some having been aged up to 16 years. Each batch was only released once in limited quantities,” samueladams.com said.
