Free transit offered for GTA New Year’s Eve revellers

TORONTO, Ont. – Several transit operators in the GTA will be offering free and extended service for passengers during New Year’s Eve festivities.
Transit will also be operating on a holiday schedule on certain days during the festive season.
Below is a list:
TTC
- Service will be free after midnight on Saturday, Jan. 1, with service on subways and most surface routes extended to 4 a.m.
- On January 1, the TTC will operate on a Sunday service schedule, with subway and most surface routes beginning at 9 a.m.
GO Transit
- Service will be free after 7 p.m. on December 31.
- Riders will be able to take earlier trips home from Union station on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
- Regular weekday GO service resumes on Monday, Jan. 3.
Durham Region Transit
- Free transit on selected routes start at 8 p.m. on December 31, with transit extended until 2 a.m. on January 1.
- The free DRT extended service will meet the last GO train arrivals from Union station at Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa GO stations.

York Region Transit
- Free YRT/Viva service will start at 7 p.m. on December 31, with extended service on select routes until 3 a.m. on January 1.
- On January 1, YRT/Viva will be operating reduced holiday service.
York Region Transit holiday schedule
Mississauga Transit (MiWay)
- Free service will be offered on all routes from 7 p.m. on December 31 until 4 a.m. on January 1.
- There will also be extended evening service on routes that depart from local malls and GO stations on December 31.
Brampton Transit
- Free service will start at 7 p.m. on December 31.
- Extended service will be offered on some routes.
