Holiday celebrations around the GTA

The lights are up and the malls are packed. It can only mean one thing, Santa is on his way again.

This year there are a number of festive events going on in and around the GTA for families to enjoy. There are also various New Year’s Eve events for families and adults.

  • Breakfast with Santa
  • Festival of Lights – From December 10 to December 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fairy Lake Park on Water Street.
  • Take a train ride on the Tim Hortons Express, which runs through a park from December 10 to 20, and from December 27 to 30, weather permitting.
  • A Christmas Carol
  • 23rd Annual Nativity Pageant – December 21 to 24, at Fairy Lake Park (on Water Street) repeated twice each evening from December 21 to 23 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Admission is free and hot chocolate will be provided.
  • Mayor’ s New Year’s Levee – Jan. 9, 2011, at the Municipal Offices (395 Mulock Dr.) Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

New Year’s Eve events: for adults 19+

  • Magic 11, Guvernment
  • Time: doors open at 9 p.m.

  • Grand 2011, Liberty Grand
  • Tickets: Dinner and club, $90 before Dec. 15, $100 after then; club only, $50 before Dec. 15, $60 after then (includes complimentary champagne toast and party favours)

  • Time: dinner seating at 7 p.m., party starts at 9 p.m.

  • Windsor Ball 2011
  • Time: doors open at 9 p.m.
