Ford invites supporters to council chamber on Thursday

TORONTO, Ont. – Mayor Rob Ford has called for a show of support in the council chamber on Thursday from those who elected him to get rid of the vehicle-registration tax.

Ford issued an e-mail invitation to the thousands of people who worked on his campaign to join him in the council chamber, where the first pieces of city business will get underway.

He faces some opposition to his desire to consider making the TTC an essential service.

Others want to know how he will recoup the $64-million that dropping the vehicle-registration tax will cost.

Ford’s e-mail move is clearly designed to remind his opponents that he was overwhelmingly elected to make the changes he plans to introduce.
