OSHAWA, Ont. – A TTC bus driver who won a council seat in Oshawa in the recent municipal election has decided he would rather stay behind the wheel than be a councillor.
According to TTC policy, employees cannot hold public office. As a result, when Mike Nicholson won the seat back on October 25, he was told he would have to choose one or the other.
Nicholson has since informed officials in Oshawa that he will not be filling the seat on council.
The city is now looking at its options.
