Province moves towards cutting Toronto’s vehicle registration tax

TORONTO, On. – It’s the beginning of the end for Toronto’s vehicle registration tax.
The province is moving to make one of Rob Ford’s campaign promises a reality.
Transportation Minister Kathleen Wynne told The Sun she’s working to make the changes so when the tax is scrapped, it will be a seamless transition.
The province collects the fee when drivers renew their licenses and the money is sent back to the city.
It’s expected to be one of the first items on the agenda at City Hall after Rob Ford is sworn in on Wednesday.
