Surrey mayor considering Liberal Party leadership

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts has risen to the top of the list of likely successors to Gordon Campbell.

Watts now admits that she’s been pondering the possibility of becoming the next leader of British Columbia. While she isn’t sure she wants to leave the comfort zone of the Vancouver suburb, she says she recognizes it’s an opportunity that’s important to evaluate.

Watts was first elected to Surrey council in 2001, running as a busy mother of two with a distaste for the petty meanness of politics and a desire to see her community thrive.
