TORONTO, Ont. – The federal government is out with new departmental spending reports for the June G8 and G20 summits.
The reports showed that the government spent at least $86,000 on zipper pulls and lapel pins for the meetings, and $14,000 on $100 a piece pens for world leaders.
While critics have blasted the spending, officials are bragging that the summits are expected to come in under their whopping $1.1 billion budget.
Before the summit, many taxpayers complained about glowsticks and a fake lake, which was created in an indoor environment for the visiting leaders.
