TTC defends Wednesday’s outage on Bloor-Danforth line

The TTC is defending how they handled Wednesday’s shutdown of the Bloor-Danforth line for most of the morning rush.

The line was closed between Broadview and Woodbine Stations because of a watermain break.

The TTC said they sent out email alerts, Tweets and Facebook updates but the Toronto Star has reported only 30,000 TTC people subscribe to the alerts and only
7,000 people follow the TTC on Twitter.

The Transit Commission said in the next couple of weeks they will improve their email alerts and next year there will real-time status display terminals up and running at most subway stations so riders don’t buy their tickets before they know there’s a service problem.
