Police identify Toronto’s 51st homicide victim of 2010

TORONTO, Ont. – Police have identified the city’s 51st homicide victim of the year as Toronto’s Albert Kiwubeyi, while they continue to search for a suspect in the case.

Officers were called to investigate reports of gunfire near Parliament and Shuter around 3 a.m. Monday morning.

Police told 680News when they arrived they found Kiwubeyi, 24, lying on the sidewalk on the north side of Shuter Street.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem on Tuesday confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest.

Witnesses described a man wearing a red and white sweatshirt running from the scene in a southerly direction, and police believe he is a suspect.
