TORONTO, Ont. – Homophobic posters were put up overnight on sign posts along the Danforth and in the Beaches targeting mayoral candidate George Smitherman.
The some of the colour posters show a newspaper image of Smitherman with his husband Christopher Peloso under the words “Should Muslim vote for him who married a man?”
The signs come after a radio ad was broadcast on the Canadian Tamil Broadcasting Corp. station in which listeners are encouraged to vote for Rob Ford because “His wife is a woman.”
This is not the first case of defamatory signs appearing around the city. On October 12 a number of campaign signs were erected along University Avenue attacking an unnamed mayoral candidate.
