OTTAWA, Ont. – Health Canada has launched a public consultation on the safety of drop side cribs.
The consultation could lead to a ban on the sale of the cribs at traditional retailers, second hand stores, flea markets and garage sales, as well as on web sites such as eBay, Craigslist and Kijiji.
Proposed changes to the Hazardous Products Act would allow only the uppermost portion of the crib side to fold or move, so parents can have easier access to the child without the danger.
