Durham Region woman dies after 401 collision

GUELPH, Ont. – At least one person has died and two more are in hospital following a collision Saturday morning on the 401, south of Guelph.

Ontario Provincial Police Constable Graham Williamson said a pickup truck crashed into the centre medium of the 401 near Highway 6 South, around 3:10 a.m.

“Unfortunately, both occupants were ejected from the vehicle. One landed in the eastbound lane, one unfortunately landed in the westbound lane.”

One of the victims from the truck was an 18-year-old woman from the Durham Region, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim, in his 20’s, was rushed to hospital.

The 401 was closed for several hours following the crash. The lanes were only fully reopened around 7:20 a.m.
