Toronto police help U.S. prosecutors in Clemens investigation

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police stepped in to assist in the perjury and steroid investigation of baseball great and former Blue Jay Roger Clemens.

Police confirmed their involvement to 680News after being asked for help from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The seven-time CY Young winner has been charged with two counts of perjury and has pleaded not guilty.

Clemens has repeatedly denied the allegations, even under oath before U.S. Congress.

Toronto police Const. Tony Vella said they’ve provided the Justice Department with documents from the Blue Jays.

The CBC broke the story and reported those documents were team medical records.

Investigators are reportedly looking for evidence of doping from 1997 and 1998 when Clemens played with the Jays.
