Former Campbell supporter calls for his retirement

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The push to get Premier Gordon Campbell to leave office early is turning into more of a shove.  A prominent B.C. Liberal thinks it’s time Campbell should retire.

It was only a few days ago a riding association president in the Township of Langley, called on Finance Minister Colin Hansen to resign over the Harmonized Sales Tax.  Langley City Councillor and political blogger Jordan Bateman then quickly retracted his comments and apologized.  Now, one of the Premier’s earliest supporters thinks he should call time on his political career.

Former Williams Lake Mayor Scott Nelson was chair of the party’s provincial council, and one of the first to back Campbell’s leadership back in the 1990s.

He tells today’s Vancouver Sun newspaper that thanks to the HST debacle, Campbell is in no shape to fight for the 2013 election and should probably leave at the party’s November convention in Penticton.
