Consumer confidence index falls as Canadians remain uncertain about economy

OTTAWA, Ont. – Results from the August Harris-Decima and Investor’s Group Consumer Confidence Index fell 3.5 percent in May, from 85.9 to 82.4.

The poll found Canadians have grown more uncertain about their finances as job losses mounted and the U.S. economy appeared to remain unstable.

Although most Canadians surveyed feel that good times will come, there was little agreement as to when that may happen.
