Toronto councillor Howard Moscoe packs it in after 31 years

TORONTO, Ont. – After three decades as a municipal political in Toronto, Howard Moscoe has decided to call it quits.

Moscoe, 70, who has been described as a bombastic politician, has had a hand in running the Toronto Transit Commission and became the champion of taxi drivers as regulator of the cab industry.

He is also known for constantly moving motions at council seeking action on various issues.

Moscoe said he wants to travel more and is entertaining some offers from the private sector.

He started his political career with Mel Lastman in North York back in the early ’80s — that’s when the two of them began butting heads and never stopped as they morphed into the amalgamated City of Toronto.

Moscoe will be ensorsing Joe Pantalone for mayor and hopes that Josh Colle will be able to succeed him as councillor.
