TORONTO, Ont. – Transportation Minister Kathleen Wynne is calling on the Toronto Transit Commission to stand by its commitment to the PRESTO fare card system.
The TTC’s recent focus on a duplicate fare system is troubling and a complete waste of taxpayer dollars, said Wynne.
The PRESTO card allows transit riders around the Greater Toronto Area to transfer seamlessly with one card from the GO train to a bus, streetcar or subway.
Wynne said gas tax funding was provided to GTA municipalities, including Toronto, with the requirement that they participate in the PRESTO system.
