Fans cheer on racer Paul Tracy for over 2 decades

TORONTO, Ont. – There is one result at Sunday’s Honda Indy that would send Toronto racing fans home ecstatic.

There are lots of big names in Sunday’s race like model, advertising spokeswoman and American racer Danica Patrick along with Dancing with the Stars champion and Brazilian race car driver Helio Castroneves, but the FAN590 racing expert Erik Tomas said a win by hometown hero Paul Tracy would be the ultimate experience for Canadian Indy fans.

Tracy’s first full year of IndyCar competitions came in 1993. He won 5 times with his first win at Long Beach.

“So much drama in ’93 when PT won the first one. You could hear the crowd roaring and pumping their fists around like a hockey game,” he said. “If he comes back and wins this race, this place will go out of its mind.”

Paul Tracy, has been a competitor at every Toronto Indy event since 1987. He is from Scarborough, Ontario and has been nicknamed The Thrill from West Hill.

Tomas said that although racing fans would love to see Tracy win, many are also rooting for Montreal’s Alex Tagliani, who will start in the ninth position.
