New surveys show Canadians and Americans losing confidence in economic recovery

TORONTO, Ont. – Consumers on both sides of the border are starting to lose confidence in the economic recovery, according to new surveys.

TNS Canada aid consumer confidence has dropped to 4.5 percent in July.

In the United States, the University of Michigan reported confidence slipping almost 10 points.

Analysts caution that sentiment does not always translate into buying behaviour, but it is reflective of real-world weakening conditions.
