Police investigate connection between 401 crash and murder

Around 3 a.m. a man in his 20's ran onto the 401 and was struck by a truck

TORONTO, Ont. – All lanes of the eastbound 401 were closed for about six hours due to a police investigation after a man was struck by a vehicle in an attempted suicide which police believe may be connected with an early morning murder.

Police say they were called to an apartment on Dixon road around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday where they found the body of a 28 year old woman who had been stabbed to death.

Detective Dan Nielsen told 680News, “there is good quality video in the building, and in particular on that floor, so there were a number of people who went in, including the suspect, before the incident and then right after.”

Around 3 a.m. police say a man ran onto the 401 near Dixon road and Martingrove where he was struck by a passing tractor trailer.

The man was rushed to the hospital with non life-threatening head injuries. No charges have been laid against him at this point.

It is believed the male may be connected to the stabbing because police say the two did have a prior relationship, and they have children together.

No names have been released because detectives are still trying to contact the woman’s family.
