TORONTO – The government computer spell check program misspelled Michelle Obama’s first name in the official program for the Saturday night spousal program that kicked off the G20 meetings at the Royal York hotel.
Macleans.ca reported that the second “l” was dropped from her given name.
This is not the first time the Prime Minister’s Office has misspelled a proper name, as last year’s news release detailing PM Stephen Harper’s Arctic tour referred to Nunavut’s capital as “Iqualuit” rather than Iqaluit.
In that case, the extra “u” made a large difference, as “Iqualuit” refers to “people with unwiped bums” in Nunavut’s official language of Inuktitut.
