Anti-G20 protesters accuse police of brutality

TORONTO, Ont. – Police raided the Toronto Community Mobilization Network headquarters, an umbrella group who speaks for all of the protesters, Sunday, after a staged news conference in the Parkdale community, near Queen Street and Dufferin Street.

Hundreds of bystanders in the neighbourhood stood on sidewalks and chanted “Get out of Parkdale!”

Protesters accused police of being very heavy-handed in their take-down efforts, but refused to speak to Saturday’s violence during the G20 protest.

The news conference got heated between the Toronto Community Mobilization Network and the reporters when asked of the violence during Saturday’s protest.

Although defensive of their tactics, some protesters still refused to explain theories behind their actions.

Protesters argued police had the tools and power to stop the disturbances.
