TTC asks New York consultant to look into ‘pay as you go’ option for riders

TORONTO, Ont. – The TTC will be spending $1.3-million for a New York consultant to look at a cashless pay system.

If adopted, TTC passengers would simply tap a credit card on an electronic reader and pay as they go.

TTC chair Adam Giambrone said the “pay as you go” plan could be used in addition to the smartcard system already adopted by several GTA transit systems.
