TORONTO – Prime Minister Harper is in Toronto today to speak with more than 1,500 municipal leaders from across Canada at their annual conference.
Harper is attending the conference to speak with the mayors about the financial future of their municipalities when the federal stimulus finding dries up in approximately 10 months.
The city mayors arrived in Toronto on Friday with the purpose of knocking on the doors of federal and provincial governments, in order to solve problems prevalent in larger municipalities.
Toronto mayor David Miller said all Canadian cities need help to deal with issues such as affordable housing and transit.
On Thursday, Miller said if there is government money to invest in the G20, then there are funds available for improving urban areas.
