Snowfall warning issued for Calgary and area, while Toronto basks in heatwave

CALGARY, Alta. – While Torontonians are basking in the extreme heat and humidity, those in Calgary are once again bringing the shovels out of the garage, for what may be the latest major spring snowfall in the city’s history.

Snowfall warnings have been issued for the city of Calgary and surrounding areas. Meteorologists said the region could receive 10 centimetres by Friday morning. Up to 20 centimetres are predicted to fall on the foothills and mountains west of Calgary.

Environment Canada said there has never been snowfall accumulations in Calgary on May 27 since record keeping began in 1885.
