NORAD to conduct low-flying exercises over central Ontario

TORONTO, Ont. – NORAD said it will begin two days of low-flying exercises starting at 9 a.m. Thursday over Huntsville, Ont., and Toronto, in preparation for the upcoming summits.

The exercise will involve Canadian Forces CF-18 hornet fighter jet, along with Sea King and Griffon helicopters.

The G8 summit is in Huntsville June 25-26, while the G20 is at the Metro Convention Centre June 26-27.

NORAD said residents in the exercise area may hear aircraft noise and perhaps see them flying around throughout the day.

But NORAD isn’t saying anything more specific to maintain the integrity of its air defence mission.
