Man falls from tree during marijuana rally

TORONTO, Ont. – A man has been hospitalized after falling out of a tree Saturday afternoon during the march to legalize marijuana at Queen’s Park.

The man was perched about 20 to 30 metres up the tree when he was spotted by people attending the rally.  A bystander called for emergency crews but the tree swayed in the wind and the man fell before help could arrive.

Toronto police tell 680News the incident happened around 4:30 p.m.  The man’s name and age are unknown.

Thousands lit up in attendance of the 12th annual march, which began around 2:00 p.m.

Organizers estimated the size of the peaceful rally at about 40,000 people.
