Three charged after fight breaks out at Sikh temple in Brampton, Ont.

BRAMPTON, Ont. – A clash between two opposing groups outside a Sikh temple in Brampton, Ont., on Sunday afternoon has resulted in three people facing a slew of charges.

The fight broke out at the Guru Nanak Sikh Centre, but officers were already at the temple to keep order because of an ongoing internal dispute.

Around 3:30 p.m., a scuffle broke out between several groups and weapons were used, but police managed to stop the fight.

Police say four men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Harvinder Pal Khaliwal, 41, of Brampton has been charged with assault.

Satwant Deol, 25, and Tehal Shergill, 60, both of Brampton, have been charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. Shergill has also been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
