Some Canadian flights to Europe resume tonight

TORONTO – There are signs tonight that Canadian flights are resuming to some European cities.

Air Canada says it plans to fly to Paris, Zurich, Geneva and Tel Aviv, and has added two additional flights to Rome.

Air Transat also says it has clearance for two flights from Montreal to Charles de Gaulle because the airport in Paris is expected to open.

But Air Canada’s flights to and from London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Munich are still grounded.

Concern that a volcanic eruption in Iceland could have an impact on Eastern Canada diminished greatly earlier in the day with data suggesting no significant ash in the atmosphere east of Newfoundland.

The Canadian Meteorological Centre in Montreal also says the volcano appears to be settling down.
