Woman and her dog killed after struck by vehicle in Mississauga

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Peel Regional Police are investigating after a 40-year-old woman and her dog were fatally struck by a car while walking on a sidewalk in Mississauga, Monday.

The woman was walking her dog on a leash on Agora Road, near the Queen Elizabeth Way and Erin Mills Parkway, when a car veered off the road and up onto the sidewalk and ran over the woman and her dog.

The incident happened at around 5 p.m.

Police are still investigating why the driver lost control of his car. Police said alcohol wasn’t a factor.

“The driver was uninjured from the vehicle. He, from what I know, stopped and rendered some assistance,” Peel police Const. Wayne Patterson said.

Patterson said the driver was cooperating with investigators.

Police urged any witnesses to come forward.
