Police investigate cause of Toyota Venza crash in Hamilton

HAMILTON, Ont. – Police will examine a 2009 Toyota Venza after it crashed into the front of a home in Hamilton, Ont., Saturday morning.

The SUV will be checked to see if a malfunctioning floor mat or a sticky accelerator sent it out of control.

Toyota has recalled 2009-2010 Venzas to address the risk of floor mats becoming trapped in the gas pedal.

The driver told police he lost control of the vehicle because it experienced uncontrolled acceleration.

One person was in the house at the time, but was not injured.

Another Toyota recall to fix potentially sticking accelerators does not apply to the Venza.
