Ex-commander of CFB Trenton back in court via video on murder charges

BELLEVILLE, Ont. – The former commander of CFB Trenton will make another court appearance Thursday in Belleville, Ont., via video link.

Col. Russell Williams faces first-degree murder charges in the deaths of two women, and charges in sex assaults against other women.

Williams is accused of killing Cpl. Marie-France Comeau of Brighton, Ont., and Jessica Lloyd of Belleville.

Comeau, a flight attendant at the Trenton base, was found dead in her home last November.

Lloyd’s body was found in Tweed in early February, two weeks after the 27-year-old failed to show up at her job in Napanee.

Williams was also charged with two counts each of forcible confinement, break and enter and sexual assault relating to attacks on women during home invasions in Tweed last September 17 and September 30.

Williams, who has hired high-profile Ottawa lawyer Michael Edelson to handle his case, was formally relieved of his command in late February.
