Slovakia upsets Russia in a shootout

Slovakia has pulled off the first upset of the Men’s hockey tournament with a 2-1 shootout victory over Russia

Pavol Demitra had the game winner and Jaroslav Halak was spectacular for the Slovaks making 36 saves and stoning Alex Ovechkin twice in the shootout that lasted seven rounds.

It was a case of history repeating itself as the Slovaks also stunned Russia 5-3 in group play at the Turin Games in 2006.
