TORONTO, Ont. – A 19-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the city’s east-end, Thursday.
The crash happened just after midnight on Pharmacy Avenue, south of St. Clair Avenue East.
Sgt. Tim Burrows told 680News a black Eagle Talon carrying a group of teens went southbound at a high rate of speed on Pharmacy Avenue when it went out of control.
“That vehicle lost control, ending up striking a hydro pole on the corner […] sending the vehicle into a spin, which ejected one party from that vehicle […] four in total were in that vehicle,” Sgt. Burrows said.
The impact threw the 19-year-old woman from the car. She landed about 30 metres away on the front lawn of a nearby home.
An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two others also in the car — a 15-year-old girl and 18-year-old man — fled the scene. The man who fled turned out to be the driver, and is now charged with dangerous driving causing death.
