Miller won’t ask Giambrone to step down as TTC chair

Even though some think Adam Giambrone should step down as the TTC chair, Toronto’s mayor David Miller is not one of them.

Giambrone dropped his bid for mayor of Toronto on Wednesday amid revelations he had “intimate relations” with women other than his live-in girlfriend.

And a very firm Miller had nothing but praise for Giambrone as he was hammered with questions about the City Hall sex scandal during an announcement on green initiatives, Thursday morning.

“I haven’t asked him for his resignation and I don’t intend to,” he said.

He added Giambrone has done a terrific job leading the transit system.

“Well the TTC’s story is one of tremendous success under his leadership and that’s my test for whether somebody who’s an elected official should hold a leadership position,” he explained.

Miller also called Giambrone’s fall from grace regrettable as he told reporters he thought the TTC chair had a good shot at winning the mayoral race.

The mayor even quoted former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who said the government has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.
