ICBC sets out to stop car theft during the Olympics

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – February is “Auto Crime Enforcement Month” here in B.C. and the Olympics are expected to present a unique challenge when it comes to fighting car theft.

Local police forces are expected to roll out their plans on how they will tackle the problem.  A joint news conference is set for 10:00a.m. in Surrey in front of the Scott Road SkyTrain station.  The Integrated Municipal Auto Crime Enforcement Team (or IMPACT) will be joined by ICBC, the 2010 Integrated Security Unit and Solicitor General Kash Heed.

Auto crime numbers for 2009 as well as information on the top 10 most wanted car thieves will also be released.
