TTC ticket collector caught sleeping in booth

Winston Churchill used to take naps while at work, but he was leading the free world to victory in the second world war.

The same can’t be said for a TTC ticket collector, caught snoozing  in his booth, headed tilted back, eyes shut, mouth open…in a photo that has now gone viral.

The photo is now tearing through the internet and is plastered across the front page of this morning’s Sun.

TTC rider Jason Wieler snapped the picture at McCowan Station on January 9 and posted it to his Twitter account.

His caption read “Yup, love how my TTC dollars R being spent…”

The TTC is launching an internal investigation.

Meanwhile, the TTC union is scolding the passenger who snapped the picture.

Union boss Bob Kinnear said it’s discouraging that no one attempted to check on the employee.

In a statement, he said a simple knock on the booth could have determined if the worker was actually asleep or unconscious.

Kinnear also calls it disturbing that other passengers were laughing at the collector.

The TTC is conducting an inquiry.

Andy Warhol said everyone would be famous for 15 minutes, and for this TTC ticket-taker his time has come, but is a rather dubious distinction.
