Greyhound Canada to close selected bus routes in Ontario in April

Greyhound Canada has said it will stop running buses on a number of inter-city routes in Ontario as of April 11.

Company vice-president Stuart Kendrick says the average number of passengers per trip on the affected routes is less than seven.

He says Greyhound is reluctant to terminate service, but with such low ridership, the financial benefit “simply does not exist.”

The route closures will affect service in 60 communities across eastern, central and southwestern Ontario.

Most of the affected routes are between Toronto and destinations north of the city such as Barrie and Orillia.
