Woman found guilty in lesbian love triangle axe murder

Nicola Puddicombe, 36, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the axe slaying of her longtime boyfriend Dennis Hoy.

Dennis Hoy, 36,  was killed while sleeping in an Etobicoke apartment.

Puddicombe’s lesbian lover, Ashleigh Pechaluk, 25, was also charged in Hoy’s death but acquitted in June, testified for the prosecution.

The prosecution alleged Pechaluck and Peddicombe had planned to kill Hoy because they had fallen in love and he stood in their way.

The Crown suggested that the killing was also for financial gain, as Puddicombe was the beneficiary of Hoy’s life insurance policy and pension plan.

Puddicombe now faces an automatic penalty of life imprisonment, with little chance of parole for at least 25 years.
