Tiger Woods apologizes on his website

Tiger might be out of the Woods with police, but not his wife.

Woods has issued an apology on his website, Wednesday.

In his online statement, Woods said, “I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behaviour my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behaviour and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.”

The apology came after a woman claimed a lengthy affair with the world’s most famous athlete.

A 24-year-old L.A. cocktail waitress has spoken out about the alleged affair, saying it went on for 31 months.

Jaimee Grubbs told US Weekly that she has the racy text messages to prove it. She said Woods left her a voicemail message in late November and US Weekly has posted it online.

Grubbs said she first met Woods in April 2007 and claims as recently as last month he told her “quietly and secretly we will always be together.”

ET Canada’s Roz Weston is the morning co-host on 680News’ sister music station Kiss 92.5. He told 680News Tiger should have owned this story from the beginning.

“I don’t know why somebody like Tiger Woods didn’t take the Letterman route, and that is, kill it before it breeds. Kill it before it gets so huge that you can no longer control it. Because now all he can do is hide in his house.”

Citing unnamed sources, US Weekly said Tiger had other dalliances with women in Vegas and New York, and that he regularly hits on women at an Orlando bar.

Fans of Tiger have mixed reaction.

One woman said “I don’t have as much respsect for him if that’s what he did.”

While this man said, “It’s a personal thing and it’s really between him and his family.”

Meantime, according to the Chicago Sun Times, the couple is now undergoing intense marriage counselling.

Woods wife and the mother of his two children, Elin Nordegren Woods, has demanded a total re-write of the couple’s prenuptial agreement.

Woods has even been promised a seven-figure amount of money if she stays with Tiger, said US Magazine.

And three of Tiger’s sponsors have said they are sticking by him.

Expert Howard Bragman explained why Nike, EA Sports and Gatorade have stuck by the world’s number one golfer.

“Most heterosexual male marketing executives who decide on these sponsorships are gonna go ‘Ya, I’m Tiger Woods – the most beautiful women in the world are throwing themselves at my feet.’ I’ll probably understand and forgive him.”

On Tuesday, Woods was given a fine and a few demerit points for crashing his Cadillac over the weekend.
